AN Alcester company producing wood chippers and green waste shredders is celebrating 20 years in business in the town.

GreenMech, which is based in the Mill Industrial Park in Kings Coughton and was formed in 1993, aims its products at professional arborists, landscapers, contractors and local authorities.

The company’s products are now exported to 28 countries around the world, and it has won two Queen’s Awards, first for International Trade in 2005, with a second for Innovation in 2009. Its chairman Tony Turner, is also marking a 50 year career in engineering, design and manufacturing.

Managing director Jonathan Turner, said: “We are proud of our achievements over the last 20 years and are feeling positive and excited about the future. GreenMech plans to remain markets leaders in innovative chipper technology by continuing to invest in the latest manufacturing techniques and importantly, a skilled and motivated workforce. There are a lot of changes taking place within the organisation at present and we look forward to improving and developing our products, entering new markets and above all, keeping our customers happy.”

The company is planning a series of dealer open days and road shows to mark its anniversary.
