A REDDITCH man will be trekking the Great Wall of China in October to raise funds for the British Lung Foundation.

David Smith, from Church Hill, is calling on local residents to sponsor him and help in his efforts in to raise funds for the charity in memory of his mother who died last year.

After surviving cancer, Mr Smith’s mother suffered with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in her latter years.

He says: “I’m completing this amazing trek to raise money in memory of my mum who suffered with a lung disease. I’m really keen to raise as much money as possible for the British Lung Foundation and would really welcome sponsorship from local people.”

Louise Skinner, British Lung Foundation events manager, said: “We are delighted that David will be trekking the Great Wall of China to support the British Lung Foundation.

“Every contribution makes a difference and funds raised will go towards ensuring that we can continue to offer vital support for people with lung disease, as well as their partners, families and friends.”

The British Lung Foundation is the only UK charity to work for the one in five people who are affected by respiratory disease.
