SAUSAGE, a miniature Shetland pony, joined year 10 science students at Kingsley College as a living example of evolution and adaptation for a biology assignment.
Sausage thoroughly enjoyed the attention and posed superbly alongside his ancestor “Eohippus”.
A school spokesman said: “The experience has enabled students to gain an inspiring hands-on insight into the wonders of evolutionary genetics, and enjoy one of those golden moments at school that they will probably never forget.”
