A GROUP has been set up to try and keep the memories of one of Redditch’s most famous industries alive.

To make the most of what the town has left of its once world-renowned needle industry, Point in Time, a community interest company, was formed by Myra Burton and Brenda Killigrew, from the Old Needle Works.

The first mission of the group was to rescue needles and machinery from one of the last factories in the town, which has been inactive for some time now.

With only weeks left to salvage the goods, Point in Time looked for funds and support and to the rescue came county councillors Brandon Clayton, Jane Potter, Juliet Brunner and David Thain who supplied some funding.

Point in Time still needs further funding and help. Anyone who thinks they could assist in some way can contact the group via 'pointintime' on facebook, or through the Old Needle Works, in Britten Street.

Also, anyone with a nice memory or story to tell about Redditch’s needle industry can contact Point in Time.

The group will be opening a museum and shop at The Old Needle Works Craft centre in the coming weeks displaying, and selling, some of the needles that have been rescued.
