A MAPPLEBOROUGH Green petrol station has launched a competition to give a deserving local football team a new kit for the rest of the season.

As part of the competition, staff at the Doghill petrol station on Alcester Road want local residents, as well as all schools, community groups, football clubs and league sides in the area, to come forward and nominate a team they believe would benefit from a smart new JET-branded strip.

The competition has been launched by local JET dealer Wazir Petroleum, to celebrate the opening of the filling station last September. Previously the site was abandoned, but having restored the site, the company now hopes to similarly improve the fortunes of a local football team with the offer of a sponsorship deal.

Mr Waziri said: “Since opening our JET site earlier this year, our staff have enjoyed getting to know local residents, many of whom visit us as part of their daily routines. We are football fans ourselves, and view supporting local organisations as an important part of what we do as a business, to remain at the heart of the community.”

The local JET dealer will consider all sides within the Redditch area, including school teams, community teams, football clubs and league sides. Local residents, as well as coaches, managers and players themselves, are encouraged to come forward and give details of how the nominated side will benefit from the new kit if they would like to be considered.

The team will be selected from nominations made from February 1, and the winner will be announced on March 1.

Those who would like to nominate a local football team can do so by visiting the JET filling station on Alcester Road in Mappleborough Green, and filling out a nomination form.
