PLANS to remodel Woodrow Library have been rescheduled to allow time for extra improvements to be made.

Originally the library was set to be closed this month so that repair work could start, but now the work is set to be extended so that more refurbishments can take place, which were included in the original plans By rescheduling the work it means that the library avoids having to be closed twice, and all the work can take place in one short closure.

Worcestershire County Council is working with Redditch borough council to establish a one stop shop at Woodrow Library, which will include the relocated Woodrow Customer Service Centre.

There will also be easier access to adult learning opportunities, events for children and young people, and a new meeting space which community groups and services will be able to use.

Worcester County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for the libraries and learning service, Councillor John Campion said: “Woodrow Library is absolutely at the heart of the local community, we know many people love the library and are really excited about the improvements to come. We’re sorry that the refurbishment works are being delayed by a few months , but this is for the best possible reason, so that more improvements can be made during a single closure, resulting in an even better and more beautiful library in Woodrow which will also give access to Redditch Borough Council’s customer service centre under the same roof.”
