THE September meeting, which includes the annual meeting and election of officers and committee, traditionally starts with a PowerPoint presentation of some of the old and more obscure photographs and postcards which have been acquired or presented to the society over many years.
These items are now archived on computer by committee member Mike Fisher who produces the show. The object is to obtain information from the audience on where or when the some of these pictures were taken and in many cases who the people are.
These shows generate a large amount of interest and provide a wealth of information for the records.
Following the interval the formal business of the annual meeting took place. The chairman’s, treasurer’s and other reports had been printed and handed out prior to commencement of the meeting and after discussion were adopted. All existing officers and committee members had signified their willingness to continue in office for another year and were elected.
A vote of thanks was proposed to our chairman, Barbara Nash, and committee members, for all their hard work. It was put to the meeting and unanimously carried. There was no other business for discussion and the meeting was closed.
The next meeting takes place on Friday, October 26 at Wythall Baptist Church Hall, Chapel Drive, at 7.30pm and will feature an illustrated talk by Roger Cragg entitled A History of Transport in the West Midlands.
Visitors are always welcome.
