A REDDITCH independent record shop will be celebrating 40 years since the release of the iconic film Grease.

Vintage Trax will be celebrating not only the film but its top tunes including You’re the one that I want, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Greased Lightning and of course the title track, Grease.

“We will be pulling out the stops to rekindle the atmosphere of the time, and generally have a fun day for all,” said owner Ros Sidaway.

Customers are invited to enter a Grease themed fancy-dress competition with prizes to be won, and there will be music from the 1950s rock n roll/doo wop era, hot dogs and popcorn, and soft drinks available.

The event is on this Saturday, September 8 at the shop on Birchfield Road, Headless Cross from 11am to 4pm.

With the weather looking good for Saturday people are being invited to bring a picnic rug or folding chairs and take some time out in the park next to the shop.

The film depicts the lives of two high school seniors: a bad boy (played by John Travolta) and a good girl (played by Olivia Newton-John) in the late 1950s.
