THE magical coastal home of Portmeirion once again provides the alluring setting for one of the UK’s most unique experiences, Festival No. 6.

The music, arts and culture festival, which is located in the Mediterranean-inspired Grade II-listed Welsh village, is back for the seventh year this September.

Surrounded by estuary, mountains, and woodlands, revellers can experience a festival like no other – and it’s all just over the border from the Midlands.

The setting of Portmeirion, Wales, is, of course, the home of the cult TV series The Prisoner.

The village is a wonderfully bizarre and elaborate interpretation of a Mediterranean villa, designed by maverick architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, nestled in the stunning mountains and forests of North Wales, overlooking the expansive estuarial waters of the Irish Sea.

It provides an intimate, bespoke banquet of music, arts and culture, taking place over the weekend of the 6-9 September.

Headliners this year include post-punk rockers The The – newly re-formed and touring with Matt Johnson for their first shows in 17 years.

Scottish indie stars Franz Ferdinand, with hit songs “Take Me Out” and “Do You Want To”, are also on the billing alongside St Albans group Friendly Fires.

Also playing is award-winning Mancunian synth-pop duo Hurts, who are sure to leave visitors delighted with their angular new wave sound.

With the enormous success of his fifth studio album Prince of Tears, Baxter Dury has come of age and will perform on the Grand Pavilion stage this September.

Also announced is Northampton singer-songwriter Billy Lockett who, championed by BBC Introducing, has almost two million Spotify streams of his debut EP Burn it Down and feted Swedish indie-rockers Pale Honey who were awarded Composer of the Year 2017 at the Manifesto Gala in Sweden.

With more live, late-night, arts, culture, comedy and food to be announced in the coming weeks, Festival No.6 2018 is looking hoping to be the best edition yet.
