WORCESTERSHIRE paceman Pat Brown is back into his studies full swing after breaking into the first team last summer.
The 19-year-old made six T20 Blast appearances and also played in the final four County Championship games as he confirmed his promise.
But now Brown has resumed his University of Worcester scholarship following in the footsteps of Daryl Mitchell and George Rhodes.
He wants to carve out a successful cricket career but knows completing his education is an insurance for the future.
Brown, who went to Bourne Grammar School, Lincolnshire, said: “It’s a good thing to fall back on because you never know what might happen, especially as a fast bowler.
“I could break a leg tomorrow or do a ligament and I’m done so having a bit of security at university as well is brilliant.
“I do business management which a lot of people are surprised about although I don’t know why. I think everyone just assumes I would do sport or something in that area.
“I quite like working with numbers and I’m interested in how business is run.”
Brown will combine his studies with training when the County report back for training in mid-November.
