JUJHAR Johal hit a superb 159 as Worcestershire continued their fightback after being asked to follow on and earned an exciting draw against Devon in the ECB Under 17s County Championship at Stourport.

Johal resumed on 95 out of 187-1 with the hosts still four runs in arrears after being asked to bat again following their dismissal for 149.

He went on to face 302 balls and struck 20 fours before he was fifth out at 360.

Johal figured in further stands of 81 with Mahaaz Ahmed (33) and 51 with Xavier Clarke (29) after his century partnership with fellow opener and skipper Callum Lea laid the foundations on the second day.

After his departure Kris Green (24) and Matt Davis added a further 65 for the seventh wicket.

Davis was in aggressive mood and hit 73 off 53 deliveries with two sixes and seven fours before the declaration at 455-8.

It left Devon a target of 265 and they went for their shots in an attempt to pull off the win.

Openers H Sargent (66) and A Causey (44) put on 90 in 19 overs and a further 89 was added for the fourth wicket by J Khan (63) and H Ward (38).

But despite a quickfire 33 not out from S Taylor the game ended with Devon on 257-6 from 40 overs.

Worcestershire fought back in style after following on 191 behind to earn a second successive draw in the competition.
