WORCESTERSHIRE paceman Jack Shantry has been side-lined with a foot niggle Down Under.

The 28-year-old is playing for Sutherland in the New South Wales Premier Cricket first grade competition this winter.

But on Saturday Shantry was only able to bowl one spell of nine overs before the setback occured in the encounter with Eastern Suburbs.

That was sufficient to rule him out of the two T20 matches on the following day against Manly-Warringah and Gordon CC.

Shantry is unsure at this stage if he will be fit to return to action this weekend.

He said: "I bowled one spell on Saturday and cut my foot on a pair of spikes.

"One of the spikes came through the sole of my boot and made a horseshoe shaped cut by my little toe.

"No stitches were required thankfully but it was pretty sore and not sure if I'll be fit for Saturday yet though. "
