WORCESTERSHIRE academy player Ollie Westbury rewrote the record books after falling just four runs short of a double century on his England Under-19 debut against Sri Lanka Under-19s in the first Test at Fenners.

Opening batsman Westbury achieved the highest ever score by a Worcestershire player representing the England Under-19s.

It surpassed the previous best of 155 by Kadeer Ali against the West Indies at Trent Bridge in 2001.

Westbury resumed on 153 out of 352-4 from 96 overs after overnight rain had washed out the morning session.

The 19-year-old advanced to 196 before his dismissal and in total he batted seven hours, 45 minutes.

He faced 380 deliveries and struck one six and 16 fours.

Westbury shared in partnerships of 231 with George Bartlett and 126 with Ollie Pope.

The under 19s eventually declared at 500-9 on day two of the four-day fixture.
