STEVE Rhodes says "model professional" Charlie Morris is leaving "no stone unturned" to regain his best form for Worcestershire.

Director of cricket Rhodes is backing Morris, who is 24 next week, to soon be "knocking on the door" for a first XI recall after a slight remodelling of his action.

Morris has been a key member of the pace attack for the past two seasons since breaking into the first team alongside Jack Shantry and Joe Leach.

In that period, the Hereford-born player collected 96 County Championship wickets and was voted the club's players' player and young player of the year for 2014.

Now he is striving flat out to recapture that sort of form via a combination of work with the County's coaches and playing second XI and club cricket.

Rhodes said: "This guy leaves no stone unturned in the way he prepares, recovers and plays.

"He is a model professional in everything he does and he is as good a professional as I've ever seen.

"It is like everyone's career, you have ups, you have downs and he has gone through a little bit of a down stage because he has a little remodelling of his action, as bowlers do from time to time, and it is taking him a little while to get there.

"But one thing you can guarantee is Charlie will be back and I just think of him as a new player once we get him back to his best — and he is starting to get there.

"He bowled really well up at Scarborough (for the seconds against Yorkshire) and he will be knocking on the door for selection very soon."
