WORCESTERSHIRE Rapids await a key result tomorrow night after breaking their record for NatWest T20 Blast away triumphs.

The North Group leaders are guaranteed a home quarter-final for the first time if Northamptonshire Steelbacks lose against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.

Last Friday’s four-wicket triumph at Derbyshire Falcons made it six T20 away wins in a row for Rapids, beating their previous beat of three over 12 years.

Steelbacks, Durham Jets, Lancashire Lightning, Notts Outlaws and Yorkshire Vikings have been the other victims.

But director of cricket Steve Rhodes is still determined to secure a home quarter-final for the sake of the supporters and the finances.

Rhodes said: “Our away form has been tremendous. We were talking about it and who wants a home quarter-final when you are playing as well as this away from home?

“But we are desperate to play at home in a quarter-final so hopefully we will carry on winning.

“Our fans and supporters deserve that and it would be a good money-spinner for the club if we can sell out a quarter-final.

“Hopefully, we can make it for the supporters.”

A Rapids win over Lancashire at New Road on Friday (5.30pm) will secure a top two spot irrespective of results elsewhere.
