WORCESTERSHIRE’S Moeen Ali made his senior England one-day international debut in today’s clash with the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua.
The 26-year-old all-rounder bowled a tidy spell of off-spin as West Indies posted 269-6 off 50 overs.
Moeen (1-25 off six overs) struck in just the second over of his ODI career when he trapped Darren Bravo lbw for two, while he also took a catch to remove Lendl Simmons for 65.
However, late hitting from Dwayne Bravo (87) and Darren Sammy (61) propelled the West Indies to a solid total.
Moeen then scored 44 from 59 balls in a 96-run opening partnership with Michael Lumb.
