BEN Twohig picked up three wickets and Ollie Westbury hit an unbeaten half-century as Worcestershire seconds' four-day friendly with Gloucestershire at Cheltenham College ended in a draw.

Rain had the final say as the County, who had been set a 299 target by the hosts, ended on 107-1.

Skipper Westbury, who had scored a century for the seconds on the ground in 2016 and 2017, ended on 61 not out from 102 balls with eight boundaries.

With trialist Joe Barrett he shared in an unbroken partnership of 105.

Barrett finished on 42no from 106 balls with five boundaries before rain led to an early finish.

Earlier, spinners Twohig and George Rhodes enjoyed the most success after Gloucestershire resumed on 74-2.

They picked up five of the six wickets to fall before the declaration at 234-8 from 53.3 overs.

Grant Thornton claimed the first wicket to end with 2-60 and then Twohig (3-40) and Rhodes (2-34) got among the action.

On a weather-hit third day, Worcestershire had advanced from 261-9 to 307 all out in their first innings.

Tristan Blackledge enjoyed a final partnership of 48 in 11 overs with another trialist in Thornton.

He batted through 62 deliveries for 18 not out while Thornton struck four fours in his 27 off 40 balls before he was last out.

Jack Haynes, trialist Safwaan Imtiaz and Josh Dell topped the fifty mark.

Haynes and Imtiaz joined forces at 38-3 and added 94 in 21 overs.

Imtiaz went on the offensive and needed just 51 balls to clock up his fifty with six fours while Haynes reached his off 91 with seven fours.

The pair departed within 15 runs of each other for 56 and 57 respectively.

Dell and Zain Ul-Hassan featured in the second significant partnership of the innings of 96 in 29 overs.

But the pair were also dismissed within quick succession.

Dell (64) reached fifty off 99 deliveries with six boundaries before he was seventh out at 246 and just four runs later Ul-Hassan (33) was lbw.

Gloucestershire opened with 374 all out as Ul-Hassan took 4-60 and Riecko Parker-Cole 2-72.
