JOE Clarke has revealed his determination to transfer his form in red ball cricket into the NatWest T20 Blast next summer.

Clarke scored 1,325 runs in the first class game during 2016 with six centuries - including five in the Specsavers County Championship.

But he was disappointed with a return of 227 runs from 12 knocks in the T20 Blast at a strike rate of 120.00 although it was his first taste of the competition apart from a non-batting role in the 2015 quarter-final versus Hampshire.

Clarke, who is again on England Lions duty this winter, wants to make a bigger impact.

He said: "I was disappointed with my T20 performances last year. I got a go throughout the competition and it was a shame we never got through to the quarter-finals.

"This winter we've heard Mitchell Santner is coming back and that is a great thing for us. He will be a great addition to our T20 squad.

"I was disappointed with my T20 form and that is something I really do want to do better in this summer.

"I learnt more about my T20 game and I can take into next summer and have a better sort of competition."

Clarke added: "In T20 you've got to have full confidence in every shot you can play. It is almost showing off, showing everyone what sort of shots you can play.

"The bowlers are the same with the skills they have and the batters do the same.

"I will try and find a way of scoring a four and six, no matter how it looks.

"It's just all about the end result and trying to score as many as you can off every single ball."
