WORCESTERSHIRE coach Kevin Sharp has been putting in the hard yards in the off season by trekking across the Himalayas.

Sharp, who is the County's batting coach and second team coach, and his wife had previously been on a similar venture to Nepal in the Annapurnas.

This time the pair chose to go to Bhutan in the eastern Himalayan region for two weeks.

Sharp will be back at New Road and Malvern College to help put the County's players through their paces when they report back for the winter programme at the start of next month.

Before setting off on his trip - via London to Delhi to Kathmandu to Paro in Bhutan - Sharp spoke about his adventure break.

He said: "My wife and I do love our walking and five years ago we went to Nepal up in the Annapurnas and we had a great holiday.

"It is quite high up, we get to about 14,000 feet which is reasonably high so there might be a touch of altitude.

"But some of the days there are four-five hours walking and a couple of the days six or seven hours walking.

"Is it a way to switch off from cricket? When we went on the last holiday to the Annapurnas, we thought we would come back a little tired.

"But because of all the exercise you get, and the amount of sleep and food you get, you come back feeling a million dollars and probably reasonably fit from it all.”
