ANDREW Jenkins has been elected as the new chairman of the Worcestershire Supporters' Association and says it is a "massive task" to fill the shoes of the late Ken Mills.

Jenkins, a lifelong supporter of the County, was elected at the association’s annual general meeting after Mills died following a long illness.

He had been chairman of for 41 years and it is intended by the association to set up a memorial fund in his memory.

Worcester-born Jenkins, 63, has been a member of the association for 20 years.

He has also taken over as treasurer on an interim basis until the end of 2016 but says the association need to appoint someone long term, preferably with accountancy experience.

Jenkins also expressed the desire to attract new blood to the association committee.

He watched his first game at New Road in 1963 as a junior member of the club.

His favourite Worcestershire batsman was Tom Graveney with his favourite bowler being Jack Flavell.

He said: "It is a great honour to be elected chairman but there are massive boots to fill with Ken a legend of the association and the club.

"But Ken would have wanted us to keep the association going forward. We need the association to flourish and I hope I can play my role in that.

"We will look to work closely with the County going forward and new chief executive officer Tom Scott is keen to work closely with the association on projects where we can assist the club."

Bob Scott, Ann Fraser and Cynthia Crawford were elected as vice-chairman, secretary and president respectively at the annual meeting.
