TOM Kohler-Cadmore may be only 20 but the Worcestershire batsman is already looking to the long-term future by training at Malvern College to become a rackets professional coach.

Kohler-Cadmore played the game at the college for four years and is now taking the next move forward with the sport whenever his cricket commitments – his number one priority – at New Road allow.

If all goes to plan, he will have a bright future with Worcestershire for many years to come but he is taking steps in terms of what might lie ahead at the end of his career.

Kohler-Cadmore said: “I have my rackets at Malvern College and am learning to be a professional at that.

“I played four years at Malvern College but being a rackets pro is not like being a cricket pro. A rackets pro is basically the teacher, the rackets coach.

“It’s a good thing to have on my CV just in case in a couple of years time – or in 15 years – I finish playing cricket.

“I love Malvern College and going there as a cricket and rackets coach would be up there with the jobs I’d like to do other than cricket.

“It’s like squash but the court is three times bigger and consists of two-a-side or singles.

“I’m doing the training at Malvern. It takes two years.”

There are about 20 courts in some of the major public schools and private clubs in the United Kingdom with two at Malvern College.

There are others at the likes of Charterhouse, Cheltenham College, Radley College, Rugby School and Eton and Harrow.
