DIRECTOR of rugby Alan Solomons says he is “very happy” with the way his squad is shaping up for next season as he looks set to “complete” Worcester Warriors’ transfer dealings.

Since the turn of the year Solomons has made six new signings ahead of the 2018-19 campaign and said he hoped to finish his recruitment work “in a very short period of time”.

Versatile back Scott van Breda became the latest recruit after agreeing to join Worcester from Championship side Jersey Reds in the summer.

Ulster prop Callum Black, Ospreys centre Ashley Beck, Edinburgh back rower Cornell du Preez, Doncaster Knights scrum-half Michael Heaney and London Scottish hooker Isaac Miller have also decided to make the switch to Sixways.

Warriors have been linked with a move for Wasps flanker James Haskell while the club are also understood to be looking to sign fly-halves Duncan Weir and Jono Lance.

“I am hoping that within a very short period we will have the (recruitment) process completed,” Solomons said.

“I have not really thought about it as I have just kept chipping away at it. It’s like looking ahead to a new season as you do your planning, then you get stuck in and go game by game.

“That’s what we have done with our recruitment – we did our planning and got stuck into it.

“I am very happy with the way it is very coming together.”

Warriors who visit bottom club London Irish on Sunday (1pm) have moved 16 points clear of the drop zone thanks to back-to-back wins over Exeter Chiefs and Gloucester.

And Solomons admitted his team’s position in the Aviva Premiership has helped to send a “positive message” to his targets.

“The recruitment process has gone really well and I am really happy with where we are,” Solomons said.

“At this point I don’t think there is any danger of a cut off period (in terms of talks) but what I would say is that we are pretty far down the track with what we need.”

Lock Will Spencer and back rower David Denton will join Leicester Tigers while Jackson Willison and Huw Taylor will make the move to Bath and Dragons respectively.

But Solomons felt there was a good blend of youth and experience.

“It is looking like we have got a good balance in the side and good strength in depth,” Solomons added.

“There are plenty of good young guys in the academy and some of them are going to push through.”
