BOSS Darren Byfield reckons Monday’s match-winner Jazz Luckie earned the slice of fortune that earned Redditch all three points at Banbury.

Luckie got away with a tug on defender James Fawke’s shirt seconds before netting the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory at the Spencer Stadium.

Rival manager Mike Ford did not spot the indiscretion and while Byfield indulged in a Premier League moment when asked for his take, he also argued his side had been deserving winners.

Byfield told the Redditch Advertiser: “I am going to be Arsene Wenger for a moment because I didn’t see that. All I saw was a striker working his socks off to hassle the defender and lead him into making a mistake.

“Jazz was unlucky not to get one before when they cleared off the line and I felt we created the better chances in the game.

“I was impressed with Banbury. They were the best team we have played so far and it was a great win for us. It was our first clean sheet which delighted me and you always have to be happy with back-to-back victories.

“They had some good midfield players but we kept them at arm’s length by winning every header. Reece Hewitt and Liam Spink were fantastic in picking up second balls and from one to 11, I thought we were superb.

“I demand a high-energy game from my team and to a man, they all delivered that.”
