REDDITCH United boss Liam McDonald has leapt to the defence of red carded pair Jazz Luckie and Jim Mutton.

The duo are set for three match suspensions after being dismissed during a melee near the end of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at King’s Lynn.

But the Reds' boss says the club will appeal the sending-offs, saying they have video footage that proves their innocence.

United were frustrated as King Lynn’s keeper pulled off a host of saves.

The game also saw referee Paul Wymondham limp off injured with about 20 minutes to go and replaced by a linesman.

McDonald said: “We have a someone who takes videos of our games so I can watch them back and analyse them but in this case it will help us defend Jazz and Jim.

“We are waiting for the referee’s report but Jazz was sent off for punching a King’s Lynn player but we have footage showing he didn’t do that.

“There was a lot of pushing and shoving but everyone was doing that.

“You don’t normally appeal dismissal but in this case we feel we have the evidence to exonerate them.

“Jim was sent off but he only did the same as the King’s Lynn player who was yellow carded.

“He had won the ball and was pulled back and both players went down, which prompted both sets of players getting involved.

“I was disappointed because we didn’t deserve to lose the game, we deserved to get a point from it.”

Mutton and Luckie can play in Saturday’s home clash against Chesham (3pm ko), with their bans kicking in a week later.

United suffered more frustration as Monday's home clash against Dunstable was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

McDonald added: “Hopefully we can bounce back from Saturday’s defeat.

“I was disappointed with some of the King’s Lynn manager’s comments about how we were physical.

“If you look at our team, our oldest player is 24 and we go out to play football.”
