REDDITCH United’s new recruits will have the chance to show their talents on tonight to help the team into the Worcestershire Senior Cup final.

After the exit of Jermaine Hylton to Swindon Town, Reds boss Liam McDonald has wasted little time in signing four new recruits and all are eligible to face Worcester City in the semi-finals at the Valley Stadium (7.45).

Luke Shearer, signed from Alvechurch, Zac Sirrell, from Westfields, Kyle Turner, from Pilkington XXX, and Leigh Phillips, from Heather, were all involved in the squad in Saturday’s win against Dunstable.

“They are all eligible for the cup game so it will be a good chance for them to get minutes under their belt and to play,” said McDonald.

McDonald admits the league is the priority for Redditch, who lie fourth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier, but he has no intention of letting the county cup out of the Reds’ grasp after winning it last season.

“The league is the priority but that’s no disrespect to the cup. We want to compete and we want to win,” said McDonald.

“It’s probably the same for Worcester. They have got the opportunity to get into the play-offs. We do too so we are focused on the league, especially with playing Poole on Saturday.

“Worcester are a really good side and it’ll be a tough task but we’ll go out and give it our best shot.

“We played them last season on the way to winning the cup and I hope we can go and repeat that on Tuesday.”
