CHAIRMAN Chris Swan has admitted Redditch United will have to look at offering their star players contracts after Jermaine Hylton signed for Swindon Town on a two and a half year deal.

United are awaiting the verdict of an FA investigation after accusing the SkyBet League One outfit of an illegal approach for the forward.

Swindon chairman Lee Power claimed Hylton has signed for Swindon, even though they would not have been eligible to speak to him until January 8.

Hylton did not have a contract but Redditch were in talks with a number of clubs, thought to be MK Dons, Birmingham City, Fleetwood and Shrewsbury, about a possible sell on clause for the youngster.

However, Swindon's swoop means United have received nothing for him.

Swan said: "We're going to have to look at offering players contracts again.

"The problem arises if is a player suffers a injury and is out for a long period.

"We had Jermaine at Redditch for a long while and maybe we should have put him on a deal."

Swan has also hit back at comments from Power, rejecting his claims Swindon offered them a pre-season friendly game.

He said: "We tried to speak with Swindon when they submitted the seven-day approach on New Year's Day was put in.

"I must say, all the clubs we were talking to were brilliant but it only takes one club to undermine our efforts.

"What Swindon have done is disrespectful and we're awaiting the FA's verdict."
