FORMER Redditch United player Mickey Moore has re-joined the club as boss Gary Whild’s assistant.
The former Reds player takes over from Carl Heggs, who has joined Kings Lynn as first team boss.
Moore managed Stratford Town last season and Solihull Borough in the Southern Midland Division before they merged with Moor Green.
He also has a wealth of playing experience with Derby County, Swansea, Moor Green, Telford, Stafford and Redditch and holds the UEFA ‘A’ licence coaching badge.
Moore said this week: "This is a fantastic opportunity and when Gary approached me I was honoured and didn't hesitate to accept the offer of working with him at Redditch Utd.
“Gary and Carl (Heggs) had a great working relationship and did a fantastic job last season in keeping the club in the Blue Square North despite the well publicised turmoil at the club both on and off the pitch.
“The results and performances during the latter part of the season were tremendous and I look forward to continuing that work with Gary.
“I had a few offers on the table which I was considering but when this one arrived I jumped at it.
“I played for the club many years ago and I have fond memories of my time at The Valley.
“ I felt that I did well when I was there and developed a good relationship with the club and its supporters and I am keen to build on that in my new role."
Whild said: “Mickey is well known to the club and he's happy to join and be part of the team moving forward.
"He's used to working with younger players on the training ground and financially that's where we are."
But following Heggs out of the Valley Stadium this week was Owen Story and Jordan Smith.
They have gone to Kings Lynn as part of Heggs’ policy to recruite Midlands based players who will continue to train there.
Story joined Redditch from Hinckley at the start of last season and impressed in the front line, as did youngster Smith who joined from Leicester City later in the season.
Meanwhile the club launched a new official website this week.
It can be found at www.redditchutdfc.co.uk
