Kidderminster Harriers 3, Redditch United 0

By David Lawrence

THERE will be no silverware in the trophy cabinet this season as the Reds went down 3-0 at their county neighbours in this Worcestershire Senior Cup semi-final.

A young United side – with just a handful of first team games between them – failed to recover from a nightmare start that saw Stefan Moore’s seventh minute shot balloon off a defender and creep under keeper Steve Rose’s bar.

The Reds then kept the home side at bay for the remainder of the half with central defenders Bradley Bullimore and Roberto Vernaschi performing well along with central midfielder Joe Knight.

And they should have levelled in first half injury time when a Myles Jones slip let Aaron Daniels in but he fired too high with just the keeper to beat.

The second half saw Harriers lift their game and Rose produced a number of good saves to keep the tally down.

On 49 minutes he saved well from Jamie Insall before Moore sent an effort over the bar.

Redditch’s best chance of the half fell to midfielder Jamie Oliver but his curling free-kick was cleared after home keeper Dean Coleman failed to hold his 25-yard effort.

Kidderminster doubled their lead midway through the half when a cross from former Cheltenham Town midfielder Craig Armstrong was headed home by unmarked substitute Nick Ingram.

The youngster was denied a second five minutes later by another good Rose save but the Redditch keeper was beaten a third time 15 minutes from time when Ingram turned and fired from the edge of the area.
