Alvechurch hope to go one better


ALVECHURCH travel to Shifnal Town in the Midland Alliance on Saturday hoping to go one better than the 0-0 draw with Boldmere, where they were left ruing missed chances.

Joint manager Simon Redhead was disappointed with the result, which left Alvechurch fourth in the table, eight points behind second placed Coalville Town.

He said: “Overall, I was disappointed as we had five guilt-edge chances and perhaps upon reflection should have won the game.

“But they are a good footballing side, and we were made to work hard. “ Alvechurch’s game at home were due to play at home to Wolves last night (Tuesday) in the Birmingham Senior Cup Round Three was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

‘Church are at home to Tipton Town next Tuesday night (7.45pm).

l Studley overcame a lacklustre Bridgnorth Town to seal a 2-1 win last Wednesday, before the bad weather hit fixtures once more with a postponement of the game at Kirby and Muxloe on Saturday.

Manager Lee Adams described the Bridgnorth game as ‘very poor’, and said: “We didn’t play well. The work rate was fantastic, but we couldn’t get the ball down and play as I would like us to.

“The pitch was one of the poorest I have seen in a long time, and didn’t help our cause”.

Super subs Oliver Casy and Jamie Bayley got the goals, the latter’s winner coming in the 82nd minute.

Adams said :”We didn’t play well, but i am happy we picked up the three points”

“We now have to take the positives from that game and look forward. We have won nine games out of 12 now, so we can’t be playing that bad.”

Studley lost 3-2 at Westfields in the League Cup quarter final.

Jamie Clarke and Dennis Mulholland got the goals for Studley.
