ANGLING.

The WDUAA Winter League Pairs First Round took place on a hard day with 12 pairs fishing.

Mick Sampson took a three fish haul for 2-10-0, just nudging out Jason Evans (SBS SPA MG) off the next peg who took an all roach catch for 2-9-9.

Third was Wayne Sharpe (SBS SPA MG) with 1-1-12 Finishing joint first in the pairs with seven points was Mick Sampson and Stuart Spencer and Jason Evans and Mark Roberson (SBS SPA MG).

Individual competition:1- Mick Sampson 2-10-0; 2- Jason Evans (SBS SPA MG) 2-9-9; 3-Wayne Sharpe (SBS SPA MG) 1-1-12.

Teams: 1- Mike Sampson and Stuart Spencer, Jason Evans and Mark Roberson 7; 3- Les Sanders and Alan Baldwin, Mick Herbert and Nick Vaughan 8.

Thirty anglers took part in the Needles A C third winter league match on a very cold river Alne on Sunday, with only nine anglers weighing in due to the weather conditions.

Bob Brazil came top with one chub weighing 1lb 12ozs.

Second was Paul Elms with one chub weighing 1lb 10ozs.

Third was Pete Lewis with 1lb 4ozs.

The section winners were Barry Blewett, John Rushworth and Alan Elms.
