EXCELLENT Alcester Town have climbed up to second spot in Midland League Division Three following a fabulous 4-1 win over Enville Athletic.

Alcester boss Danny Janes brought in Kieran Evans and Nigel Adams for their debuts and both players made an important impact as the Town turned the game around in the second half.

Enville were out of luck in front of goal, hitting the crossbar on one occasion, while Alcester goalkeeper Jack Turner then pulled off a vital save as his side struggled to cope with the physical battle.

But it was Alcester who took the lead when the impressive Will Beach set up Stuart Hall to score, only for Enville to level five minutes later through Steve Stearn.

The second half was a different story as Alcester stepped up the pace with Beach proving a constant threat to the Enville defence.

It was Beach who restored Alcester's lead after latching onto a long ball by Lewis Marston before bravely heading home.

Alcester made it 3-1 when James Ward expertly controlled a Nigel Adams free kick before firing home.

Ward rattled home the fourth goal as well after powering home a pin-point ball by Marston.

A delighted Danny Janes said: "It's really pleasing when players respond in the way they did. The players stayed calm under pressure and delivered the goods. I got the response I was looking for."

In-form Alcester have a real test on their hands this week when they travel to higher ranked Droitwich Spa in the Les James Challenge Cup
