YOUNG footballers will get the chance to take to the turf at the Trico Stadium as the Redditch United Schools Cup Final returns once again.

This year’s Schools Cup has seen year eight teams from the secondary schools in the town play each other in two leagues, with play-offs to decide who goes through to the final at Redditch United’s ground.

The competition was first organised in 2010 by TRUST (the Redditch United Supporters Club) in liaison with the club and Redditch Sports Partnership – further strengthening the club’s links with the community.

Walkwood won the inaugural final and have won the cup three times, with St Bede’s claiming two victories, and Ipsley and Woodrush one title each.

This year’s final is between Ipsley and Woodrush who will face off at the Trico on Thursday, November 2 (2pm kick-off).

The event has become a popular occasion and is well supported by enthusiastic pupils and parents, with Reds manager Darren Byfield set to present the cup and medals to the victors following the final.
