Redditch United 1 Biggleswade Town 0

SUPER Reds ground out victory at the Trico stadium due to star man Dior Angus’ eighth goal of the season.

Angus was eventually clinical on 30 minutes after he had missed an easy early chance, heading home a cross from McKauley Manning to make the difference between two well matched sides.

It had looked like Angus might be the difference from the off, as he put a cross against the bar and got in a good position in front of goal to meet a Spencer Weir Daly cross but put it wide.

The visitors were in it in the first half, keeper Ethan Ross saving well from Tony Burnett with his legs and then easily saving a Reece Fielding free header from a corner straight at him.

Andi Thanoj put two shots just over for Redditch before the break as they looked to increase their lead.

At just 1-0 up they were vulnerable and Biggleswade had some good chances in the second half, Daniel Jarvis thinking he had equalised on 55 minutes but his effort was disallowed for offside.

Graeme Montgomery crossed for Connor Hall to head over, Gavin Hayes put a shot wide when it was easier to score and Lucas Perry saw a corner hit the bar, although Weir Daly had also had a goal disallowed for offside after a neat move.

The win moves Redditch second in the table and sets them up nicely for a clash with fifth placed Slough on Tuesday night at the Trico (7.45pm).
