REDDITCH United were cruelly denied a point as Kettering Town snatched victory deep into injury time.

The Reds appeared to taking a well earned point but Lindon Meikle’s header with virtually the last touch of the game saw the hosts’ take victory.

Having led 4-0 at the interval at Dunstable Town at the weekend on the way to an opening day 5-0 win, it was a quieter first 45.

Kettering shaded possession, but Ross Ethan was largely untested, apart from one fine point blank save from Ben Milnes, although the offside flag had been raised.

Paulty Apustolopoulos stung the palms of Kettering keeper Paul White with a powerful 20 yard effort, but that was as close as the Reds came before the break.

Kettering piled on the pressure with a series of corners at the start of the second period, but Orrin Pendley and Rosser Keenah both made vital goallines clearances.

In between, Jackman curled a free-kick narrowly wide, before Dior Angus was played through but shot at the keeper, whilst Pendley’s glancing header from Jackman’s set piece was off target.

Jackman’s set pieces were proving a constant threat and from another, substitute Mukendi’s header hit the defender on the line, who knew little about his block.

Rene Howe got in behind Keenah only to be denied by another wonderful Pednley clearance, before the Reds broke and Danico Johnson’s shot was tipped over as both sides pushed for a late winner.

It didn’t look like coming, but with the clock past 90, Meikle popped up at the back post to head past Ethan from close range and break Redditch hearts.
