SUPER Studley are setting the early pace in Midlands League One following back-to-back victories over Pershore Town and Nuneaton Griff.

It took a last gasp wonder-strike from Gaz Evans to seal a tremendous 4-3 success at Pershore last week.

But Studley looked a cut above Griff on Saturday when they clinched a 3-1 win thanks to a brace of goals from Josh Westwood, while Andy Nicol curled home a third.

Manager Keith Draper said: "They were two completely different type of games. Against Pershore we played really well but let them back in to level at 3-3 with just six or seven minutes remaining.

"But Griff were never in the game and the only downside was the fact we conceded a goal with the very last kick of the game."

The Griff game was one for Draper to savour as he'd never previously won a single point at their ground throughout his managerial career.

A delighted Draper added: "We've already got more points this season than we did in our first 15 games last season."

Studley entertain Stafford Town this Saturday and then host Racing Club Warwick on Tuesday.

Draper warned: "Our home record wasn't good enough last season and its something we must improve upon if we want to be a top six side.

"I've also expressed to the players that I might have to rotate the squad on occasions this season.

"We've got four games coming up in the space of eight days and all the players will feature at some point.

"There will be situations where some players will find themselves on the bench, but it's something they have to buy into."
