RAMPANT Redditch have raced into a 31 point lead on top of the Worcester County League following their 80 run triumph over local rivals Feckenham.

Redditch racked up a huge total of 264 for eight off their allotted 45 overs and then restricted Feckenham to 167 for eight after rain had reduced their reply.

Opening batsmen Ollie Mason and Tom Field laid the foundations for a substancial score by sharing an opening stand worth 121 runs.

Mason made top score of 78 while Field supplied a further 43.

Feckenham thought they'd hit back when they removed dangerman Russ Southwick for six and overseas player Brandon Weal on 13.

But Rizwan Chaudhry then came to the crease and cracked 40 while Ghulam Moyhuddin hit a further 28 to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

Feckenham were on the back foot from the start of their reply when chasing a revised target of 247 from a reduced 38 overs.

They soon slumped to 37 for four as Redditch tightened their grip on the game.

Feckenham had to thank Josh Stacey who struck 51 from saving them from collapse as they finished well short of their target.

Redditch spokesman Gary Fisher said: "It was a comprehensive victory. We bowled and fielded extremely well."

Ghulam Moyhuddin proved pick of Redditch's bowling attack by taking three for 26 off seven overs, while earlier Feckenham's Ed Wormington had picked up four for 52.

Redditch attempt to cement their top billing this Saturday when they entertain Stourbridge side Pedmore on Saturday at Bromsgrove Road but Gary Fisher warned: "Pedmore present a real threat. They're in good form at the moment and beat second placed Worcester CC last week, so we expect a tough game."

Feckenham have slipped back to seventh in Division One as a result of this defeat and will look to bounce back when they travel to Stourport, who are just two points above them.
