STUDLEY suffered a couple of collapses at both end of their innings as they lost out by five wickets to Coventry club Bablake in the Warwickshire League Premier Division.

Having opted to bat first, the move threatened to back-fire from the word go as Studley slumped to four for three in the space of 10 balls.

Opening bat Sam Fonyodi and Stuart Harris then turned matters around with a fourth wicket stand worth 113 runs.

Harris hit top score of 66 while Fonyodi added 42.

Wickets then started tumbling again at regular intervals as Studley were bowled out by Bablake for 154 with no other batsmen managing to reach double figures.

Despite losing a couple of quick wickets, Bablake breezed home in reply to reach a winning 155 for five in the 40th over.

Studley skipper Andy Rhodes said: "We were missing Jack Williams in the middle order because he was away on wedding duty. It's only when Jack isn't there that you realise how massively you miss him."

Williams will return to keep wicket in place of the absent Chris Perrins next Saturday when Studley travel to another Coventry club Standard.

They will also include second XI skipper Chris Moss who has now committed himself to the first XI for the remainder of the season.
