REDDITCH Borough’s youngsters met with former Premier League manager Alan Curbishley after competing in the SCI Football Tournament in Somerset.

An under-10s side, comprising members of teams managed by Darren Motherwell and John Cox, finished fifth in the competition held at Berrow FC and Drove Park, Weston-super-Mare.

The players had their mementos presented by Curbishley, formerly a boss in the top flight with Charlton Athletic and West Ham United and more recently a television pundit.

“It was a great moment for all of the youngsters but most importantly, the weekend was about making memories for these kids,” said club boss Julian Workman.

“At the end of a testing season in which the players, parents, coaches and volunteers have all given so much, it was nice to get away and enjoy a well-deserved break while playing some football.

“The biggest thing was making sure everyone had fun. These are the kind of nice experiences you take with you into adulthood and they are about so much more than football, things like friendship and teamwork that are core values at Redditch Borough.”

Top scorer Kyle Agar, the first junior captain of the new Borough era Grace Court, Harry Cox, Alfie Cox, Logan Motherwell, Gabriel Bakalar, Harry Edwards, Bartosz Krol, Charlie Fisher each picked up gongs.
