ALCESTER Bowling Club began their Heart of England Over 60's League campaign in less than satisfactory style.

The A team, who were relegated from the top flight last season, lost out by 10 shots in their Division Two match at Yardley Wood Social Club.

Alcester did manage to pick up 13 points thanks to winning cards from Margaret D'Ella 21-9, Val McDermott 21-11 and John Alderson 21-17.

Alcester's B team have been promoted to Division Four this season but found life at a higher level difficult as they started the campaign with a 21 shot defeat against Wythall B.

Despite home advantage, Alcester could only manage two winning cards from David Hodgson 21-9 and Geoff Spiers with 21-20.
