REDDITCH-trained Gas Line Boy put up a fine performance to be placed fifth in last Saturday's Randox Health Grand National.
Trainer Ian Williams, based at Dominion Racing Stables, Portway, saddled the 11-year-old bay in the famous 4m 2f contest at Aintree for owners The Three Graces.
The 50/1 shot raced in mid-division under jockey Robbie Dunne before coming to challenge approaching the final two fences.
He had every chance at the last but couldn't find enough on the run-in and came fifth just under 17 lengths behind winner One for Arthur.
Gas Line Boy still scooped £26,500 in prize money for his gallant effort in the world's most famous steeplechase.
Jockey Robbie Dunne said: "He ran a cracker and jumped great. We got a lovely passage all the way. Perhaps I wouldn't have won it but if I had sat a little bit longer we might have been third. I thought after we jumped the second last I thought we were going to win. He ran well and it was great to get a ride in the race."
