ALVECHURCH boss Ian Long has boosted his side's firepower by bringing in Josh McKenzie from Northern Premier League side Sutton Coldfield Town.

Busy Long is also bidding to bring back marksman Aaron Lloyd after serving Stourport Swifts with seven days notice for his former front runner.

Long ran the rule over Lloyd last Saturday in Swifts 1-1 draw with Sporting Khalsa and said: "Aaron started the season with us, but there was an issue over his fitness.

"But with the pitches set to become harder and more bobbly to play on at this time of the season, Aaron can bring a different option."

Top of the table Alvechurch spent another Saturday on the sidelines after having no fixture, but still remain nine points clear of closest rivals Coleshill Town with nine games remaining.

Long added: "The league title is totally within our own hands now and I can't deny that we are now favourites to win it.

"I know it's an old cliche, but it's one game at a time and I have to make sure I keep the players focused on the prize ahead".

Alvechurch travel to sixth-placed Coventry United this Saturday and then host Highgate United the following Tuesday at Lye Meadow.
