Redditch United 4, Dorchester Town 2

A Luke Keen hat-trick helped Redditch to their first win of 2017 as they saw off the challenge of lowly Dorchester.

The Reds made the perfect start, opening the scoring after just 77 seconds when Keen turned home a Charlie Morris cross from the left.

Dior Angus fizzed a ball across the face of goal ten minutes later before Dorchester’s Ollie Bassett crashed an effort over the target from ten yards.

Keen struck his second on 21 minutes, showing great skill to hold off his marker before powering a shot past keeper Shane Murphy from the edge of the area.

The points looked to be in the bag when the striker completed his hat-trick four minutes later, scoring from the penalty spot after Jhai Dhillon had been brought down by the Dorchester keeper.

But United then allowed the visitors back into the game by gifting them two goals in the space of three minutes.

On 29 minutes Dhillon’s sloppy attempt to chest the ball back to his keeper put the ball into Ollie Mehew’s path and he tapped home beyond the helpless Brad Catlow.

And the Redditch keeper was wrong-footed again when Mehew’s shot was deflected into the bottom corner by Jordan Brown.

But the home side regained their composure and made it 4-2 on the stroke of half-time when Jordan Cullinane-Liburd headed in a corner.

The second half lacked the excitement of the first but, with six minutes to go, a delightful cross from substitute Flavio Pereira da Veiga picked out Angus but he steered his shot high over the bar from six yards.
