MANAGER Julian Workman lavished praise on his Redditch Borough charges for their ruthless 9-0 blitz of Bloxwich Town.

The battering began on seven minutes when centre-half Garrath Hodgetts steered Luke English’s centre inside the near post.

Hodgetts thumped home his second from a flick-on following Craig Malins’s long throw and Borough's continued dominance was rewarded when Liam Fullerton notched the third on the stroke of half-time.

Billy Garvey slid home number four and Fullerton was on target again with a 20-yard drive within seven minutes of the restart.

Fullerton completed his hat-trick with a tap-in from Courtney Sowe’s low centre just past the hour and while the flow of goals was briefly stemmed, there was still time for a late flurry.

Garvey rammed home from Callum Hall’s cutback 12 minutes from time with Aaron Addis converting from close range moments later. Fullerton saved his best for last, glancing inside the far post after Hodgetts drilled a well-weighted ball from deep.

“It was a complete performance from the lads and they deserve so much credit,” said Workman.

“People will see we scored nine goals and might think that was the most pleasing thing but I was so happy to see us keep our shape and to our pattern of play from start to finish.

“Once the game is decided, it is easy for players to try to become the hero, go it alone and the team gets ragged but that never came close to happening to us.

“The lads got forward and pushed Bloxwich back while sticking to what we asked of them so when we did give away the ball, we put on pressure in the right areas and gave them nowhere to go.

“Our discipline was tremendous too. Understandably, one or two of their players showed signs of frustration as the match went on but we just got on with it. We could have scored even more to be honest.”
