STUDLEY did their survival prospects a power of good with a splendid 5-2 success at fellow strugglers Stafford Town to climb out of Midland League Division One's bottom two places.

Two goals from Gareth Evans and a third through Josh Westwood sent Studley into a commanding 3-0 lead by half time.

But Studley manager Keith Draper admitted the 'jitters' set in when Stafford pulled the score back to 3-2 after Ryan Pace and substitute Jack Hepple scored direct from free kicks.

Studley weathered the storm and struck back with two goals from second half substitute Danny Moy who is currently on loan from Alvechurch.

Draper said: "Stafford play on a 3G pitch and it took us around 10 minutes to adjust. During that spell, Stafford were all over us. But once we'd settled down, we played really well, probably the best 45 minutes we've produced this season.

"But the pitch took its toll. I had to take Jack Moss and Luke Hennessey off at half time. Josh Westwood also sustained a back injury, but carried on for a bit longer.

"Despite holding a 3-0 lead, you could still sense the tension.

"When Stafford pulled it back to 3-2, we would probably gone on to lose the game earlier in the season - but all the hard work we've been doing behind the scenes is beginning to pay-off.

"Nobody is talking about relegation anymore, we're looking upwards.

"I was equally delighted for all the supporters and officials who travelled to Stafford. They continue to back us and it's appreciated by everyone."

Studley have a tough task on their hands this Saturday when they entertain second placed Atherstone at the Beehive.
