TOM Gretton's perseverance paid off as Yourholidayisover finally got his head in front for Group 1 Racing at Plumpton on Monday.

The ten-year-old had finished placed on his last six starts for the Inkberrow trainer including 12 days ago when seemingly throwing the race away at Hereford. A change of headgear and jockey proved the key.

The horse was gifted to the racing club from Northern trainer Patrick Holmes after Gretton expressed an interest in him.

Gretton said: "He has been a fun horse for the club as he takes his racing well and is always competitive but he has been frustrating with all the placings. Now that we have got the tactics right hopefully he should be able to go on from here. His jumping has got better and better having been on the go since the summer and he has been due a break but hasn't showed any signs of wanting one."
