REDDITCH Rugby Club's development squad could only raise 11 players but still gave a good account of themselves against Evesham before losing out 49-26.

Evesham were able to lend rivals Redditch two players but they took time to settle. Evesham took advantage to score two converted tries before Redditch found some momentum and scored a superb team try following a break by debut player Harvey Habgood before Jacob Delaney finished the move off and Sam Aus converted.

Evesham responded with a third converted try before Aus pounced on a loose ball to score and convert making it 21-14 at the break.

It was Evesham who began the second half as the brighter side and scored two more converted tries before Aus responded when fly-hacking the ball over for a try which he improved himself to make it 35-21.

Evesham then put the game out of sight with two more converted tries before Redditch had the final word when winger Habgood was able to finish off in the corner.

Redditch return to Midlands Division Four action this Saturday when they entertain local rivals Alcester who are pressing for promotion.

In return, the development squad visit Alcester Seconds.
