ALCESTER Second XV made the short trip to Stratford this week to take part in a mini tournament organised by Shottery.

Sam Lear, Matt Johnson and Toby Allen all stood out for Alcester who also included Colts players Oscar Holland and Harry Adams, both of whom played with maturity beyond their years.

Alcester beat hosts Shottery in their opening game thanks to a superb solo try from Holland with further scores coming from Rup Daffern, together with another try from a guest player to give the Kings Coughton side a clear victory.

The second game saw Alcester draw with Leamington thanks to tries from skipper Stuart Whitehead and Will Silk.

In their last game, which was the equivalent of a tournament final, Alcester lost out to eventual winners Shipston.

Alcester's First XV return to league action this week when they make the short trip to Kings Norton in a local derby starting at 2.15pm.

The seconds have a Warwickshire Shield tie against Coventry side Stoke Old Boys.
