Redditch United 1 St Neots Town 4

Redditch United missed a good chance to gain ground on the play off chasers when they gave a way a 1-0 lead and some first half dominance to lose against lowly St Neots.

Admittedly the visitors put in a good performance and certainly deserved their points but Redditch were guilty of some very poor defending and running out of steam early in the second half.

When the Reds scored after just one minute when Danico Johnson headed in a Luke Shearer cross it looked like they would dominate the game.

Eli Blake fired just wide with a curling shot on four minutes and Shearer then put in a cross that was begging to be converted but a defender cleared it.

St Neots first chance came on 32 minutes when captain Michael Hyem headed just wide and then on 40 James Hall took advantage of hesitant Redditch defending to equalise from close range.

Redditch had two chances early in the second half when Nat kelly saw a low shot saved and Jordan Jones volleyed over at the far post but then the visitors took control.

They took the lead on 51 minutes when Miles Smith's long cross from the right was volleyed in easily by an unmarked Declan Rogers.

Rogers turned provider on 59 when he crossed from inside the box for Hall to volley in his second, again he was unchallenged.

Bradley Catlow in the Redditch goal was forced into two good saves from Rogers, who was now on fire, to keep the score down.

But he could do little about the fourth on 72 minutes when he pushed a James Hall cross onto the bar and Rogers was there to score his second on the line.

Rogers missed a chance to claim his hat-trick, and Neot's fifth on 76 minutes when he put his shot over the bar.
