BOSS Darren Byfield admits his team-building at Redditch United is still a work in progress.

The Reds are set to return to league action this week with tonight's trip to Chippenham Town and this Saturday's clash with St Neots Town at the Valley.

United are looking to get back to winning ways after two Southern Premier League games without success.

Byfield is keen for his side to continue their progress as the season goes on and says he is still looking to strengthen when the chance arises.

"The spirit in the squad is always good and we will look to keep progressing with each game," he said.

"But it won't happen overnight for us. We just need to keep working hard and improving.

"I'm looking to bring in more quality and hopefully we'll have more deals done in the next few weeks."

Redditch eased past league rivals Cambridge City last Saturday to land a place in FA Trophy second qualifying round.

United won 3-1 thanks to a brace from Reece Hales and a Eli Bako strike and will now face Ramsbottom United away in the next round, which will take place on Saturday, November 26.

The victory saw Redditch pocket £2,700 in prize money and move to within seven rounds of Wembley in non-league football’s premier cup competition.

Byfield was pleased that his side progressed, adding: "We were superb in the first half and controlled the game. The game was won in that half.

"They came at us in the second half as they had nothing to lose. They enjoyed much more possession but we were quite comfortable.

"We'd have liked a home draw in the next round but we just have to get on with it.

"They are in the league below but we can't take anything for granted. Form goes out of the window in the cup so we'll have to be prepared for a tough game.

"But before then we have two league games and we want to get what we can from them."
