CHAMPIONS Redditch Entaco brought down the curtain on their Worcester County League Division Two campaign with a below par eight wicket beating by Bromyard.

With the title already in the bag, Redditch found themselves reduced to 109 all out inside 24 overs when they took first strike.

Bromyard bowler Greg Leighton ran riot with the ball by bagging figures of eight for 52 as he ripped through the Redditch innings.

Russ Southwick struck top score of 25 but that would prove of little comfort for Redditch having been 58 for one before the innings collapsed with eight batsmen failing to reach double figures.

Leighton then lashed a quickfire 49 in reply as Bromyard raced to a winning 112 for two in just 16 overs.

Redditch chairman Daren Field confirmed: "This was certainly a case of after the Lord Mayor's Show. We had a couple of players cry off late through injury and as a result, we had to give 14-year-old Sam Bonsall his debut.

"If I'm honest, I think some of the player's season finished the week before, because we weren't anywhere near as focused as we should have been for the game."
